Importance of English Language: From the time the British set their feet on Indian soil the English language has been holding a unique position in India. Its richness, flexibility, its elegance and its dignity made it universally popular. From every angle the importance of English is obvious.
Stressing on the importance of English to India Pandit Nehru said, "One hundred and fifty years of intimate contact has made English an integral part of our educational system and this cannot be changed without injury to the cause of education in India"
Importance of English Language:
- 1. It is the most important means for acquiring human knowledge.
- 2. A language contributes directly and indirectly in the personality development of person or child.
- 3. The history of a language is the history of human civilization.
- 4. It is the best and most applicable means of verbal interaction among people for exchanging their ideas and feelings.
- 5. A national language is the basis of national and emotional integration.
- 6. The verbal interaction procedure is only the means of teaching in classroom.
- 7. A language is the source of thinking and assimilation of ideas and imagination.
- 8. The literature, culture, civilization and art development are written and preserved by the language.
- 9. The development of literature is based on its language.
- 10. The language is the basis of education. The national development is based on the education.
- 11. It is best means for social and cultural development.
